Welcome To AnnByle.com - The Official Site For Author & Speaker Ann Byle
Hospitality makes me nervous. I feel like the house should be sort-of perfect, but since I don’t like to clean I get crabby. The kids hide. My husband takes a bike ride. The pets disappear. And the people who come over don’t care if perfection hasn’t been reached. Websites, however, are a whole different story. Anybody can stop by for a visit and I don’t have to clean my house. So welcome to AnnByle.com! Come on in and stay for a awhile. While you’re here, let me tell you about a few things. First, I have a new book that has released titled Plainfield Township. I grew up in Plainfield Township on the north side of Grand Rapids, where my parents still live. I gathered about 170 archival pictures from township residents, historical societies, and the Grand Rapids Public Library, then wrote the captions that reveal the history of the township. The book is published by Arcadia, the experts in preserving history through pictures. I have a number of signings and speaking events set up around the release of the book, as well as a number of speaking events to do with my writing. Please check out the Speaking section of the website for more details. Second, I must tell you about Breathe: A Christian Writer’s Workshop scheduled for Oct. 10-11, 2008. The Writers’ Guild, my best writers buddies who live in and around Grand Rapids, are planning our second writer’s conference. Last year we kicked off this venture (thanks to creativity specialist and professor Cynthia Beach) with keynote speaker Vinita Hampton Wright. We had 20 great workshops, about 30 attendees, and a pretty good time. This year our keynote is award-winning novelist Lynn Austin. Vinita liked us so much she’s coming back to lead workshops. Other workshop leaders include Tracy Groot, Lorilee Craker, Shelly Beach, myself, Quentin Schultze, Rosalie deRosset, Barbara Scott, Shauna Niequist and more. There’s even an opportunity to spend time on the Learnt, a boat that will dock at Grand Haven and offer authors a unique lesson in research and writing. I’ve updated the website as well, so look around for new information. Thanks for your visit! Come further in. |
